FUTURE EVENTS
26th March 2011 – our major fundraising event of 2011 is a black tie event at the world famous All England club, home to Wimbledon tennis. This will be an amazing opportunity to dress up in your finest and have a truly memorable evening with food, dancing and a celebrity auction. So please put this date in your diary NOW! Tickets will be on sale later this year and we are sure will sell fast.
We would really welcome any donations for an auction of celebrity prizes that you might be able to give. For example the use of a holiday home, a day out somewhere... or anything from famous contacts, eg last year we were given a fabulous signed album box set by Oasis which we auctioned and raised over £700. As well as this we need things for a tombola - anything from a bottle of champagne to a diamond bracelet. Thank you very much, please contact Denise: via this link
PAST EVENTS
5th February 2010 Race Night
Thank you to all who came and gambled the night away! Also a big thank you to those wonderful cooks who made the lasagne and salads which were very tasty and appreciated by us all. We raised a fantastic £2500 which will pay for next term’s school fees and installing the internet to the home. Well done Denise who worked so hard to make this event such a great success.
5th September 2009 5K Adidas Challenge
Denise and Caroline plus friends Jayne Allen, Fiona Bath and Vida entered the Adidas 5K challenge. They all managed a fast walk, bit difficult to do more when ther are so many people around!
If you have not already done so, please add your donations to our page at the just giving website using the Addias button on the right,
or or go to

The money raised will go towards the school fees for the next term which cost £2000. Schools fees are the biggest expense for the charity and they have to be paid every term or the children can’t go.
Fiona Caroline and Denise ready for the off and making their way to the start
Past the finsh line and Caroline, Jayne, Denise, Vida and Fiona proudly display their finishers medals.
Caroline says: -
We enjoyed doing the run/power walk, it was great fun. Above are a selection of photos of the triumphant team with their medals. If you have sponsored already, thanks very much and if you haven’t
it’s not too late to do so – any contributions gratefully received as we are trying to raise enough for this term’s school fees.
We will be taking part next year and hope to field a far larger team, so get your trainers on ladies, it really was a fabulous experience to be running in Hyde Park with 17,000 others all raising
money for their charities.
Quiz Night 5th June 2009
We had a great quiz night at the beginning of June which was very well supported. Everyone I spoke to afterwards said they had a fun time and thought it was good value for money. We raised £1900 in total which was a fantastic amount for the evening. Two men’s Wimbledon semi final tickets were auctioned which raised £600 which forms part of the total. We will definitely have some more quiz nights in the future and hope that everyone will spread the word as to what a great time they had. Many thanks to Denise's Friday ladies (they will know who they are!) for their tremendous support in making it a successful evening. So be ready for a Christmas special with some quirky questions to get you in the holiday mood.
Swishing Party 30th May 2009
Thank you to all who came to the clothes swap, we had a great time and everyone seemed to think that £5 donation each was very good value for money to have a fun afternoon and come away with a new outfit or two or three or…! We raised £130 for Daniel’s Promise plus I also sold scarves and jewellery and the profits from that will go to the charity.
We started the afternoon with a glass of Pimms and enjoyed the wonderful sun in the garden, it was almost too hot to try on clothes but our girlie instincts kicked in and at 3pm Cornelia blew the whistle and the hanger grab ensued. Angie and I were both eyeing a fab cerise pink satin Monsoon top which had been Susie’s, lucky me it fitted. Wendy and Angie both wanted a lovely pair of white linen trousers and we all swooped on Kit’s bag of skirts. The trying on sorted out who suited what apart from the linen trousers so Angie and Wendy had to do the cat walk in front of us and it was voted that they looked great on Wendy. Don’t feel too sorry for Angie as she bagged quite a lot else!
There were some brilliant clothes, many hardly worn - you know how you buy something in the hope of losing weight, or it just doesn’t look quite so good on you as you thought in the shop etc. We all helped each other choose the clothes which suited us best and we enjoyed a no man party were we could natter as much as we liked! And as you can see from the photos we all got new outfits. The consensus was that we’d all like to do it again in October. Please save your winter and party clothes and bring friends as the more the merrier and the more choice for us all.
I was surprised at how few things were left over, but please be fairly choosy next time about what to bring and remember it’s not a jumble sale!
