Sponsoring a Child
We are a very small charity with no overheads, there are no deductions so 100% of your donation goes towards the running costs of the home, feeding and caring for the children and their education.
There are 30 children currently at the orphanage, when you sponsor a chid your donations go not only to providing help with the costs of being in the home, but just as importantly their primary & secondary education. It pays for their school uniform, exercise books, a plate and a mug plus other necessities to see the child through the school terms. They all want to work hard and get the best education they possibly can and then go to University. Education is the key to lifting the children out of poverty and giving them a chance to have a better life, but education is not free in Uganda and without your help this would be impossible.
By sponsoring a child you develop a unique link between the child and yourself. Child sponsorship enables individual involvement with the lives of those children that are lucky enough to be given the opportunity for a place at the orphanage and to go to school. The result is not only a chance for a better future for the child that is being sponsored and their community. Our sponsors find this very rewarding; they keep in contact with their child by email and letter as well as sending Christmas and birthday presents. For many of the boys this is the first time anyone had shown them any personal attention and for all of them it is a very special experience in their lives.
‘I can’t tell you how much I enjoy making a difference to someone’s life. For me it is a relatively small amount of money to make such a big impact on someone else. I email Kenny every couple of months or so and love hearing what he and his friends have been doing.’
Rosemary Bailey, sponsor of KENNY SERUNJOJI, age 15.
